I am Earth

As we begin our first exploration of the I Ams, let’s start with a shift in paradigm — a shift in consciousness. I invite you to say,

I am earth. I am earth. I am earth.

Notice what comes up. Give it time. What arises might be all the reasons your brain resists this idea — or a flicker of curiosity, or potential disorientation.

We often have to sit with that disorientation if we want to reorient toward something whole. We live in a world still dominated by an orthodox, Western worldview — one built on separation.

Many of you on this journey are changemakers, activists, leaders, community soul-makers, alchemists

— people already sensing that they are the ones rewiring the system, doing it differently. The earth is central to that work.

WE ARE IN AN EARTH-CONNECTION CRISIS

It’s a deep separation, and unless we reweave it, we’ll continue destroying ourselves, the more-than-human world, and our beautiful home.

Reweaving this connection isn’t just about connecting to earth — it’s about reclaiming ourselves as earth.

It is imperative we re-weave the severed self. A severed self can only recreate more severing.

This is the deep connective-tissue work we need now: to self, to each other, to other beings, and to earth — through these earth-bodies.

Our bodies belong to the earth — not as metaphor, but as fact. The calcium in our bones, the iron in our blood, the water moving through our tissue: all of it came from her, on loan, cycling through us before it cycles back.

We are earth, organised for a while into this conscious, walking shape. Our bodies are part of nature in this dimension, and we’re privileged  to inhabit them with soul, spirit, wairua. They are matter — pulsing matter —  belonging to this planet. I believe we’re also part of her evolutionary and  healing process, able to bring more light and love into this reality.

Being embodied is being earth, and being earthed.

Being embodied is natural — we all inhabit a body already. We meet in bodies, feel in bodies, touch in bodies, eat in bodies, sleep in bodies. The invitation to embodiment is an invitation into our true, interconnected nature. Embodiement means we will feel the flow of life, the flow of earth. It is a deeply sensorial and sensational way of being.

How we relate to our bodies — our awe for their systems, our attunement to their intelligence, our respect for their processes — shapes how deeply we sense the body’s layers: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual/energetic. Then it helps us feel the layers of our body, always in communion and communication with the environment around us – the fungi in our bodies always talking to the mycelium network, the bugs talking to the bug world, our lungs in korero with the trees.

If we want to activate the intelligence of collective humanity for our planetary crisis, we need to tune into the depth of our own bodies.

Our bodies are part of the earth — part of this crisis, and part of the solution. Tune into the intelligence of your body, and you’ll find: it is earth.

An invitation to have a go at orienting yourself in this way: first through the mind with the I Am Earth mantra, and then through the body. Your companion play sheet brings together a guided audio practice, an Earth altar ritual, reflections and a simple practice to carry with you through the week.
